This issue is only present with the windows cortana search area; desktop, file explorer and taskbar icons are perfectly fine. Programs with the icon error will still launch normally. I am unable to restore to a previous point in time as I have not set a point before the issue occurred, and have tried fixes provided in the following post: Redirecting . However, these solutions did not work for me.
