BitLocker Recovery

I am on the blue screen for BitLocker where I am trying to enter the recovery key and get my Windows10 laptop going. (I have not used it in about a year so it asks me for my recover key.) When I enter the recovery key only the numbers of the key show up on the input line and nothing happens. I cannot get past this screen even though I have the recovery key. Your advice?
