BitLocker recovery problem

I recently replaced the battery on my Dell/Win11 laptop. Ever since, most of the time (not always) when I either reboot the computer or awaken it from sleep mode, I get prompted to enter my BitLocker recovery code. Entering my code is more of an annoyance than a problem - I'm used to just opening the laptop and instantly logging in. What causes this? Is there anything I can do to remedy the situation? Can the BitLocker feature be turned off? Would that be advisable from a security standpoint?
