Bitlocker recovery key

I updated my laptop to windows 11 thinking I had to for it to run properly even though it’s practically brand new. The morning after I did so I turn on my computer to see a blue screen asking for my bitlocker recovery key. I just bought the laptop last year from staples brand new. I don’t remember setting up the bitlocker recovery key when I bought it. I have checked in my Microsoft account and it is not there. I also tried to register the laptop with the serial number but it didn’t recognize the serial number. Everything I have tried to do while in the blue screen has directed me back to the
