bitlocker asking for key after waking up from sleep

When I close the lid to my laptop to put the unit to sleep, when I open it back up I get a blue screen saying there is a bitlocker error. I have to navigate to continue to book windows, then the screen goes black. I can force shutdown the laptop by holding the power button down. Then when I press the power button again to boot up, it works fine. Can you help please?'
