Battery for HP Notebook will not charge

I received a new HP 15 Notebook. After completing the sign-in process, noticed that the battery was not charging. I allowed the laptop to update several times, but battery still would not charge. I the driver and found nothing wrong, but Iinstalled and reinstalled the audio. I then installed some HP programs that scanned laptop for problems, and they detected that the battery was not charging but were unable to fix it. I then assumed it was a with battery (even though it was used and ordered a new battery. However, the new battery also would not charge so I checked the adapter and tried a comp
