I certainly did something to cause this, but now, I have a help balloon

appearing under the three Options that come up when I choose Turn Off

Computer in the Start Menu (XP, SP3).

They explain each of them.

No big deal, but I do not really need those explanations :-).

How do I get rid of them? Must be simple, but where ?

Thanks

Do you mean that they stay there all the time, or just appear when you

mouse-over the buttons?

Are they still there after shutting down and restarting?

This issue has not raised a lot of interest but for those who might be

curious:

TweakUi, part of PowerTools, does have a settings for this (Taskbar,

Enable Balloon Tips) and it was not checked when I discovered the

problem. Which lead me to post the issue here.

Being frustrated at not finding any other setting to modify, I decided

to check this setting, apply it, and then uncheck it. This is a real old

trick, but it worked. Should have tried it before, but sometimes, one

overlooks the obvious and simplest.

Thanks for the info. I saw you post after I had found the (rather, a)

solution on my own. The balloons were there only when mousing over. I

have no idea why they decided to appear, when I had worked on my machine

and changed a few things, so ...

Grateful for your reference, I'll keep in case I face the same issue

some other time.

Regards
