Bad hdmi cable? But it's brand new

it might be hard to see but my monitor screen is all orange and it's telling me to put in my pin to log in. This was fixed when I switched out the hdmi cable but this hdmi cable is brand new and also so is this monitor. I got both no more than 3 months ago!
