Background picture issues W11

I have a Asus laptop with Windows 11 purchased about a year or two ago. For about a year the background pic changed automatically every day without me having to do anything, then it stopped and I had to go to settings/personalisation to get any picture either on background or lockscreen. I downloaded/installed the Bing wallpapers app but it doesn't appear as an option on my settings and now every few days the picture I selected from my own gallery disappears and is replaced by solid colour so I have to go back, browse my own photos and select the picture again.
