Automatic Updates when i want to open laptop for some important work and when i was in the middle of some important work

When I went to open laptop for an urgent work it starts updating, when I was in the middle of most important work it starts updating which makes me frustrated, irritating, depressed which makes me angry and force me to swear, curse to Microsoft. Why don't it simply avoid to update when computer is opening and during the middle of work. Why don't it update in background automatically or why don't it update before closing down which option is also available? Why don't it gives notifications for updates so that we can update manually when we are free?
