Audio suddenly stopped working and I don't know why

Please help. I have no idea why this happened. I have Norton 360 as well as Norton Utilities Ultimate and did a cleaning for broken shortcuts but I've already undone that and restarted and nothing changed. Windows says there is nothing to update either. I've tried looking at previously asked questions involving this sort of issue but the only thing I haven't tried is uninstalling and reinstalling things.
