Audio pop sound after Windows 11 24H2 update

Since the Windows 11 24H2 update (which also updated the driver for my Realtek sound card to a newer Windows version), I am experiencing a loud popping sound through my PC speakers every time a notification sound plays. The "pop" precedes the notification sound and is always the same volume (loud!) regardless of the current audio volume setting. There are no other sound issues. I have run the audio troubleshooter and the "pop" does not occur when I play a test sound.
