Audio not playing through correct device even though it's selected

Hello. I've been having this problem for a while now. I have 3 audio devices: my laptop speakers, external speakers and headphones. When I go to switch audio devices, let's say external speakers are selected, sound still plays through laptop speakers, I have to switch devices a couple times for audio to play through another deviceI'm on Win11 23H2
