Assigning a drive letter in windows 11 S

My new HP laptop won’t read microsd cards with >4gb. HP say it needs a drive letter assigned to the microsd drive but because it’s a windows 11 laptop in S mode you cannot load a command shell to assign a letter to the drive. And the win software options don’t work either for the same reason - according to HP. Anyone got a work around or solution? Thanks
