Answer to the most annoying problem of Windows 7

This message was posted here because:

1. I couldn't find any newsgroup on Microsoft Communities for Windows 7

(which I believe is an absolute must)

2. the program mentioned at the end would also work for Vista.

From day one of upgrading to Windows 7, I was faced with the unpleasant

reality that Win7 doesn't remember the size and position of folders. To

further

torture me, for some reason unknown to me, it began to restrict some

programs' windows--such as IE , Outlook, Chrome, and a few other--to a fixed

size and position, not allowing any change no matter how many times I

resized, repositioned and restarted them. I even went as far as deleting the

"frame" entry in the registry for some programs such as Outlook, but it just

made the window to open in a new smaller uncompromising size and position!

After a very long time spend on searching the net and reading no-solution

answers, all I was able to find a little utility called "ShellFolderFix"

which through its awkward interface, solved the problem for Windows folders,

but not the programs. I read comments saying that they had bad experience

with some paid programs (such as Windows Manager) which allowed fixing the

size and position of program windows and nobody knew of anything that

worked.

Tired of spending more hours than a fulltime job on the issue, I was about

to give up when on my very last try I stumbled upon a fantastic *little*

freeware developed by someone in Japan which not only allows for fixing the

size and position of folders as well as *program* windows, but it also has

many other features which I hadn't even heard before. Furthermore, it's only

60 kb, doesn't require

installation (just run the file), and it allows for selective fixing of the

size and position of the program Windows, and it also works on XP, Vista

and Windows 7!

Why such a long post on my little discovery? because through my many days of

searching, I came across many people with the same problem, and thought that

the least I could do is to share this wonderful solution with as many people

as

I can and save them the time and trouble of trying things that won't work.

Program's name is "Pitaschio" (no, not pistachio!)

Sorry folks, the message was posted to XP newsgroup by mistake, although I

did see some people with XP who had the same problem ( I run a dual boot

laptop with XP and 7), and according to the author the utility mentioned

would also work in XP--although I have tried it only on Windows 7.

Hope it helps either way.

Why, oh why does it always take a 3rd-party solution to fix the endless M$

fuck-ups?

Oh no they do all the time unless they fail to read my messages. Don't

forget, Microsoft doesn't like people like me to tell the truth.

Sheehan Stanley (MVP) has some systems not patched since SP3 and he was

bragging here the other day that they are very fast and very reliable. What

more can I expect from these newsgroups.

When the first Usenet component is microsoft.* , one can only expect to pay

for what's otherwise free and open-source wrt an operating system.

Next thing we'll see is an M$ television ad saying that Billy-Bubba invented

Usenet.

It's not a /Microsoft/ newsgroup and it's a sewer, like all alt.windows

newsgroups.

That sort of thing only happens with M$ NNTP clients, in this case

Outhouse-Distress.

No again, at least on this end. I use Thunderbird.

Odd ... I thought you were referring to my posts. Of course the Mozilla

product out-performs anything M$ has ever done.

Yes, I was referring to three identical copies of your 3/17 post that

showed up in my Thunderbird microsoft.public.windowsxp.general group at

1:39 am.

As to MS products, I happen to like the MS Wireless mouse and keyboard a

lot.

Sewer? I think not. Its no worse than these groups and a good killfile

takes care of that. Not to mention the forums are a mess, tons of noise,

very little info. and you can't killfile that mess!

I agree. Using a killfile well takes care of a lot (but not all) of

such problems.

Yes, you can killfile there too. Use the NNTTP Bridge to participate

in the forums, and you can then use the killfile in your newsreader.
