Android Authenticator app fingerprint not working

I've got the Authenticator app installed on my Android phone and registerd my account.microsoft.com account. It works (though slow) and if I attempt to logon the three numbers appear and I can click the right one. After that the Android app asks for a fingerprint but that always fails to work. If I enter the pincode on my phone it does work.How do I remove the prompt for fingerprint on the Android Microsoft Authenticator app?
