Am I advised to "sign in" when I use the Edge browser?

Is it necessary to sign in to Edge in order to have my e-mails (Outlook-New) synced between my computers, the e-mail server, and my Android phone? That's all I want. I don't care to have any other devices linked. I am ok with different Favorites in Edge and different documents on my laptop and desktop computers. And I don't put any documents or photos in the Cloud. Bottom line, is there a meaningful advantage to signing in when I access Edge? (Or a disadvantage if I don't sign in?)
