Alt Enter Fullscreen suddenly doesn't work anymore

I use windows10 on a flex5 lenovo laptop.I usually download rpgmaker games and a lot of them don't have an inbuilt fullscreen function, so the go-to way to fullscreen is usually with alt enter. This works fine, ruins the quality of the game because it's not intended to be that way but it's fine and has worked fine until now. Whenever i press alt enter for a game, the game will start glitching and it will force me out of the application, it doesn't even let me turn off the alt-enter or try different functions, renders the game totally unusable.
