After locking my computer it goes to sleep and I cannot wake it and am required to shutdown and restart with the power button. How do I fix this?

After locking my computer it goes to sleep and I cannot wake it through USB input or the power button. I'd like my computer not to go to sleep as a 'fix' but it says setting are managed by my organization which according to my administrators are not.
