ADOBE FLASH PLAYER

When I try to play videos, I get a message: "Get Adobe".  When I go to "Install Adobe", one site says that Windows 8 already has it installed. But then it says it doesn't.  Do I need to download Adobe Flash Player or not and exactly how do I do that?
