Hi-

New guy here.

Win XP Pro 2002 SP3 and all updates

til last week installed.

Windows defender installed-

erverthiing working just fine.

I fear my admin account password is

corrupt-the one made when prompted

during (last) installation about

Added internal Intlel wireless card

a month ago, had some problems

with getting Motorola Phone tools

software to update correctly

3 weeks ago but never

got it totally fixed. numerous

install/uninstalls til I gave it up.

Defragged it a couple times

Have been using wifi hotpots for first time

lately. set up limited user account

to do internet as security, but find

I cannot log on as an administrator

anymore-I did not change the password.

Has my Administrator account's password

been hacked or something? Is restoring it

nigh impossible without reinstalling XP all over?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Google is your friend. Type the words

forgot windows password

into a Google search box and take your pick. I usually use the Nordahl boot

CD to reset the Admin's password to a blank. When finished, change all the

other passwords too and do a little planning ahead: Create a second admin

account and record its details on a sheet of paper so that you never end up

in this awkward situation again.

Thanks Pegasus!

How did you work this out? The guy only posted a link to his blog in the

same way as Microsoft Valuable Pig does to his/her site. Are you saying

that if I post a link here it is spam, but you being a member of the elite

group of pigs, can post a link and it cannot be spam? Now this does sound

very logical!.

I would have simply said to that post that there is absolutely nothing new

in that. We all knew about it and we know nothing in it works to retrieve

the password.

I am posting my spam here:

LD:

It's obvious that amongst the many other things you don't

know, you don't know what 'spam' is.

You're also going to be loved by the spammer for repeating his

spam for him. Making you what's known as a "spam supporter".

Twayne-

Thanks for the reply-

I'm unclear-are you saying there's

nothing I can do and what pegasus

wrote is spam?

If you check the links on Linky Wu's page then you will soon see that he

points you to a password resetting tool that [he?] sells for $19.95. The

Nordahl boot CD that I pointed out is free, it has been around for years and

it works.

We affectionately refer to him as an athletic supporter.

He (Twayne) apparently ran his registry cleaner again.

Please stop trying to cover for your mistake. You were wrong and got called

on it. So what if he's selling something from his website, he did not post

the link here and most of the links on that blog were to free reset tools

and one was even to MS. He could have left those out if he wanted too

sheeeesh.
