I am wondering what has changed that I cannot add a shared printer on the local network to a different Microsoft Account.
Previously, in Homegroups, both computers could join a homegroup and if the two PCs were in same private network with printer/file sharing enabled we could locate the printer and install on secondary computer over wifi private network.
Now:
1. Installed Printer by USB on PC1 under user 1. Printer works locally!
2. Turned on File/Printer Sharing on PC1 user 1.
3. Opened firewall on PC1 under user 1 to transmit and receive all packets from PC2.
4. Opened firewall on PC2 under user 1 to transmit and receive all packets from PC1.
5. Ping is successful in both directions.
6. Attempted to install Printer on PC 2 under user 1 and it installed.
I am able to print under my Microsoft account on PC2.
7. Next user, user 2, logs in and printer is not installed.
8. Attempt to install Printer under user 2 account. Cannot find printer! Would you like to install a generic driver?
Have tried by Discovery, by name, by TCP/IP to install the printer.
9. Log back under user 1 and tried to print. Print spooler has stopped! Restart print spooler and can print again, but only under user 1.
Has anyone run into this? Is there file/user ACL that might be blocking the usage? This seems to have started since the removal of homegroups in 1803.
