Adding a monitor

[Windows 11]

I have a new HP desktop and a new acer monitor I want to use as a second screen. I've done the HDMI and power cable. Why is it still not turning on? (yes, I tried to turn it on but power button isn't having an effect, but I don't know if this is because it's connected. Please help!
