Add Microsoft Account is taking hours

Hello everyone. I have a new laptop. I was directed to add my Microsoft account. I did. It says please wait. I've waited 2 days now, turned the machine on again and it is still saying please wait. I can't even exit out of this and could navigate my machine just fine until I was directed to add my Microsoft account. This is costing me time, and patience. Please help. Thank you.
