Account mismatch for xbox app and windows store

Recently updated email address for microsoft account, was unable to do anything with microsoft store at first (I had to create a new local account and resign EVERYTHING in). Now logging into the xbox app and MS Store with the updated email, I get a "account mismatch" while using the SAME account. I'm able to download and play gamepass games though.
