I am finding this very exasperating and hope someone can give me the correct
fix, as nothing on MS's site helps at all.

1.I get a notification that there are updates
2.Vista (HP) download the 5 updates and installs them
3.Vista Requests I restart the computer
4.Upon restart I get a message that the install failed
5.Updates redownloads and goes through the whole process again

I have followed all the steps in the MS Help Files (stopping the service,
deleting all the files in the updates folder, starting the service, etc.
etc. etc. Nothing is working. I am pasting one of the errors from the 5
updates below:

Security Update for Windows Vista (KB935807)

0x80070002 = The System cannot find the file specified

Which antivirus software is installed ? Perhaps it's corrupting/blocking
the downloads of the updates OR, there's a router issue if the system is
on a home network, OR, there's a 3rd party firewall installed.

Suggest you try a manual download with the AV temporarily
Paused/Disabled from any monitoring of the system.

Create a folder on the root drive [usualy C:\ ] and name it
935807.
Download KB935807 and SAVE it :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...46-6afa-4a30-833d-e058e000c821&displaylang=en

Close the browser and any other open programs.
Now open a Command Prompt with Elevated Privileges by going to
Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, and then *right-click* cmd in
the Programs list.
Click 'Run as administrator', and then click Continue.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation,
type the password, or click Allow.

At the Command Prompt, either type this in exactly as written or
copy&paste it:

wusa.exe C:\935807\Windows6.0-KB935807-x86.msu /quiet /norestart

Press Enter
The update *should* install now
If the Command Prompt window does not close, then type in

exit
Press Enter
Restart the system if prompted to
Did that get KB935807 installed ?
