Office 2010 defaults to .docx format. Is there a way to change this to .doc.

Most users I am in contact are still using older formats. Have suggested

they download compability file, but seems they can't read.

No, Word 2010 defaults to .docx format, as does Word 2007. Perhaps Word

Options, Save is where you want to make your choice?

Click File, Options, Save, then change Save files in this format to Word

07-2003 format (*.doc) then click OK. Do the same for all other programs,

..xls for Excel, .ppt for PowerPoint if needed by opening each of those

programs.

Let us know if this helps. BTW, you should not be using a beta piece of

software in any production environment. Now that I have said that, I have

been using it for a while testing alongside of Office 97, 2000, 2002, 2003

and 2007 and have not had any issues with cross compatibility of any created

files using the older folder styles. I have had minor issues with the

compatibility pack on Office 2002 using .pptx files.
