0x800704cf Error Code when attempting to log in to Microsoft apps

Whenever I try to log in to my Microsoft account on my computer it gives me an error message 0x800704cf. I tried some troubleshooting such as running the network adapter troubleshooter and resetting the TCP/IP stack, however I just get a less descriptive "oops something went wrong" error when I try to login. I don't think it's an issue with the account as I still get an error when I try to create a new account.
